Providing Support for Orphans, Widows, Families adn Villages Devastated by War, Poverty, and HIV/AIDS.

Recruiting Liaisons from across the African continent, Adopt A Village In Africa works through directors and coordinators at the grassroots level.  Liaisons work directly with villages and others in support of the orphans and elderly.

We now have perspective Liaisons in many sub-Saharan African countries, including:  The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Ethiopia, The Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe.

Our goal is to have Liaisons in every sub-Saharan African country by the year 2010.  Liaisons identify the needs of their country and, with your generous contributions, administer assistance.

Your Adopt A Village In Africa donations provide support for a child, a family or an entire village!

Adopt A Village In Africa is  Making a Difference . . .

And You Can Help!

AIDS now kills around 3 million people a year
in sub-Saharan Africa;
250,000 people a month; 57,533 people a week;
8,219 people a day;  5 people every minute.

The news reports the grim speculations and perils of children living in Africa.  The epidemic of AIDS is killing off a generation of mothers and  fathers, leaving behind the very young and the very old.  One of the most alarming speculations is that by the year 2010 there will be 40 million AIDS orphans in Africa, most of whom will have grown up with little or no social structure.

According to the World Health Organization 34.3 million people in the world have the AIDS virus

  • 24.5 million of them in sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Nearly 19 million have died from AIDS, 3.8 million of them children under the age 15.
  • 5.4 million new AIDS cases in 1999, 4 million of them in Africa.
  • 2.8 million died of AIDS IN 1999, 2.4 million of them in Africa.
  • Reduced life expectancy in sub-Saharan Africa from 59 years to 45 between 2005 and 2010, and in Zimbabwe from 61 to 33.

Among other statistics:

  • More than 500,000 babies infected by their mothers -- most of them in sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Worldwide, of the 13.2 million children orphaned by AIDS age 13 and under, 12.3 million of them in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Is there hope for Africa’s orphans and widows?
Yes, and you can make a difference!
